Three days hiking in Peaks of the Balkans

Transfer Pejë – Kuqishte.                        Hike Kuqishte – Milishevc.
Distance: 12,5 km

After a 40 minutes transfer by car from Peje to Kuqishte, you will start the hike in one of the famous trails of Via Dinarica, which lies in the south part of Lumbardhi river. Along the way to the Shkodra Valley you will be in the “Peaks of the Balkans” returning to Zlanopoja, in the mountain village of Lumbardh, where shepherds from the Lekaj tribe raise their cattle. Thanks to the glacial lakes, the first part of the walk is one of the most visited places in Rugova, however, as soon as you reach 2000 m altitude you will be on a very quiet path and almost not violated at all by the locals.

Accommodation: Lojza Guesthouse. Dinner is served at 7:00 pm.

Hike Milishevc – Doberdol
Distance: 18,2 km

Breakfast is served at 08:00, while walking starts at 9:30. Today you will walk again between two shepherd villages but in two different states, yet sharing the same culture and language. These two villages have been linked by language and customs but separated by political boundaries. About 1 hour from the Lojza guesthouse you will reach the narrow crossing on the border with Montenegro, where the views are spectacular. From here you will climb to Tromedja 2366 m (three border peaks).

This part of the mountain is very well protected since from Milishevci you are connected to the largest city next to the mountains, Peja, which we also call the capital of the Cursed Mountains.

After the walk you will be accommodated in the guesthouse Leonardi. Dinner is served at 19:00.

Hike Doberdol – Gjeravice.                    Transfer to Peje.
Average hiking time: 5 – 6 hrs

Breakfast will be served at 08:00, while walking starts around 10:00. On this day you will climb the highest mountain in Kosovo and the second highest peak of the Cursed Mountains after the top of Jezerca. The road from Doberdol to the top goes along a straight path. From Gjeravica you can see a magnificent view of the heights of the Cursed Mountains, the plain of western Kosovo, Pashtrik, Sharr Mountain…
During this walk you will reach Kosovo, a border which is almost not protected at all. However during the communist regimes in this part of the world this was the border between Albania and Yugoslavia and one of the most protected borders in the world.

Conditions provided:

The rooms are shared between the group; internet and phone signal; food; alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages; drinkable water. Lunch box included in the 2nd and 3rd day.
